Since joining Grund IP Group, Laura has been involved in a wide variety of intellectual property matters, including the drafting, prosecution, and defense of European, German and PCT patent, and EU trademark and design applications and patents, in addition to preparing documents for both opposition proceedings and appeal hearings before the European Patent Office. Her focus is on inventions originating from the technical areas of biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, immunology, virology, cell and molecular biology, biochemical techniques and diagnostics, pharmaceutical sciences and related medical devices in the mechanical arts.

Prior to pursuing a career in intellectual property law, Laura worked in various positions in medical affairs and medical marketing with both large pharmaceutical and mid-size medical device companies. During her undergraduate and graduate studies relating to the fields of biochemistry, cell biology and oncology, Laura was awarded a scholarship by the Foundation of German Business (Stiftung der Deutschen Wirtschaft or SDW), in addition to a second scholarship received for her PhD studies focusing on models of esophageal adenocarcinoma, which was awarded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), an institution responsible for co-coordinating and funding medical research throughout the United Kingdom.
